I will be involved with a few different kinds of racecars during the 2009 season and beyond.  I will list some brief details on them here, but if you have any more in-depth questions don't hesitate to email me.

Sports2000- Lola T88/90
These were the racecars I really cut my teeth on, so to speak.  They are the perfect car to learn in because they perform well but don't have enough horsepower to cover up mistakes making it truly a momentum car. This type of car runs in the Sports2000 (or S2 for short) class in SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) national competition.  It is a true "drivers class" where every car is on a similar performance level and it is up to the driver to find an advantage in setup and on-track performance.

Riley MkXI Daytona Prototype
This is the world's only Aston Martin powered Daytona Prototype.  This racecar is an endurance prototype- it is an endurance car because it runs in long distance events (such as the 24 Hours of Daytona) and it is classified as a prototype because it is not a production based vehicle.  These cars race in the Grand American Road Racing Association's Rolex Sports Car Series.  This car runs a 4.7 liter V-8 engine and puts out approximately 550 horsepower and it goes as well as it looks!  We are currently putting together a program with our racing partners so that we can run the 2010 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with the 3 main drivers being myself, my older brother Adam, and my dad Rick.  This is very special for us to be able to drive together and should be a great event (assuming the other Mancuso's don't mind being slower than the baby in the family)!

Mazda MX-5 Cup Car

This race car is based off of the ever popular Mazda MX-5.  The Mazda family truly prides itself in it's ability to produce fast, fun and reliable street cars so this "Cup car" is not as highly modified as people tend to think when they see it fly through a corner on-track.  The Cup cars utilize a MAZDASPEED cold air intake and modified exhaust, MAZDASPEED performance suspension kit (double adjustable/threaded shocks, anti-roll bars, and end links), a modified front strut tower brace, and not much else!  We enhance the brake lines for durability and have, of course, made many safety modifications to the car; but they are very close to stock (stock engine, gearbox, brake rotors, etc.).  We run on a spec tire (BFGoodrich g-Force R1) and have sealed engines to ensure close racing.  These cars draft eachother very nicely so it is not uncommon to watch 8-10 cars bumper to bumper changing positions multiple times per lap.  They are a blast to drive and the stiff competition requires you to drive 100% all the time!
